About Units Center

Motivation

For several years, I was involved in lots of construction projects in the US. Having been working with the metric system my whole life, I have to say that using imperial units can be quite confusing. I came to use tens of online units converters while reviewing reports, drawings, or performing engineering calculations. But I couldn't find one to work with efficiently.

Some had area units from Medieval France, but didn't have moments of force or specific weight. Some used rounded conversion factors, and I had to check each conversion on multiple sites to ensure accuracy. But the most frustrating thing was, by far, to search for the pair of units I needed through multiple large dropdown lists.

As someone addicted to keyboard shortcuts, switching back and forth between units with the mouse was especially annoying and terribly inefficient. So I decided to build my own tool to convert units.

The tool's extremely simple: only an input field to write what you need. No more mouse. No more lists of quantities and units. If you need 130 pcf, you just enter 130 pcf, and get 20.421370 kN/m³.

The app also supports the evaluation of numerical expressions, saving you the hassle of using an additional calculator.

Since I built it, I have the website on a tab in the browser always ready.

I hope that Units Center Converter proves to be just as useful and time-saving for you as it's been for me.
